FAQ

  • I come in as an expert advisor and design leader who complements your existing team, and not to fill a seat or provide staff-augmentation. My role is to bring a cross-disciplinary perspective—bridging strategy, user needs, and responsible AI practices. I help your team see the bigger picture: where workflows break down, where trust in AI can erode, and where design choices affect adoption.

Think of me less as “another designer” and more as the architect of the user experience and governance framework—the one making sure the pieces your team is building come together into a system that’s usable, trustworthy, and aligned with your goals.

  • That’s actually the norm. Most organizations come to me with strong expertise in their own domain—healthcare, financial services, education—but not in UX or AI governance. You don’t need to “speak the language.” I translate complex concepts into clear, actionable choices, guide you through what matters most for your context, and ensure you can make confident decisions without getting lost in jargon.

  • I work strictly under a B2B contracting model. That means clear agreements and protections for both sides from the start. A typical engagement includes:

    • NDA – to safeguard confidential information right away.

    • Statement of Work (SOW) – defining scope, deliverables, timelines, and responsibilities.

    • Contract – outlining terms, fees, and engagement conditions.

    • Change Orders – to manage any adjustments as the project evolves, so everything stays aligned and transparent.

    • Fixed project costs – not hourly rates, so you have predictable budgets and clear value alignment.

This ensures clarity and accountability before the design work begins, and avoids surprises later.

  • I tailor the process to your needs, but generally it looks like this:

    • Discovery – understanding your goals, users, and existing systems

    • Mapping & Diagnosis – identifying pain points and opportunities in the user journey

    • Prototyping & Testing – making ideas tangible and validating them with users

    • Governance & Risk Check – aligning with compliance, safety, and responsible AI frameworks

    • Delivery & Integration – ensuring solutions fit your team’s workflow and can scale

This structure gives projects clarity and momentum while staying flexible enough to meet you where you are.

  • The ROI shows up in two ways:

    • Human impact – better adoption, less frustration, and more trust from your users and staff.

    • Business impact – reduced development rework, fewer compliance risks, smoother scaling, and higher long-term value from your technology.

In short, investing in UX and governance early saves money, avoids costly missteps, and creates a product people actually want to use.

  • That’s where I do some of my most meaningful work, but not exclusively. My skills apply anywhere people and technology intersect—financial services, insurance, education, manufacturing, and beyond. The common thread is projects where human connection and trust matter, and where AI or digital transformation needs to be handled responsibly.

  • Not at all. I scale my involvement based on the project. For some clients, that means a short audit or a workshop to uncover quick wins. For others, it’s a longer partnership, guiding design and governance through multiple phases. Whether you’re a startup testing an idea or a large organization rethinking a service, I can adapt to the scope.

  • For larger projects, there are two good paths:

    • I bring in trusted collaborators from my network—designers, developers, researchers, or policy experts. I continue to lead the work so you get a consistent vision and point of contact.

    • Or, if you already have people in mind, I can help interview, qualify, and onboard them. That way, you get peace of mind that the team is aligned with your goals, standards, and ways of working.

In both cases, you don’t have to worry about coordination—I make sure the right expertise is in place and that the project stays cohesive.

I don’t provide staffing augmentation services. My role is to ensure the right expertise is in place, not to fill seats. The value I add is in leadership, integration, and quality assurance—so your project moves forward with clarity and consistency.

  • Most of my work is done remotely, which allows me to collaborate flexibly with teams across locations and time zones. Remote work is especially effective for discovery sessions, journey mapping, prototyping, and governance reviews.

That said, when in-person collaboration adds unique value—such as stakeholder workshops, high-stakes design sprints, or leadership presentations—I’m available to work onsite. The format depends on what will best move the project forward, not on geography.
